Behavior Professional Intern (BPi) Roles

Prerequisites:

Demonstrate strong observation skills and identification of variables associated to increased challenging or complex behaviors (triggers/setting events). 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience at DSP 2 or 3 level (see criteria above)

• Full time employee (salary – based on 40+ hours/week) 

• Maintained 24+/year training credits (workday, Sunbreak institute, & other approved trainings)

• Minimum 120 shadow shift hours with a lead Behavior Professional 

• Recommendation letter from a Sunbreak Behavior Professional, outside Behavior Professional, or other equivalent professional. 

Behavior Professional (BP) Roles

Prerequisites:

• Minimum 6 years’ experience at DSP 2, 3, or Intern level (see criteria above) Or a 4-year degree in related field with 3 years’ experience (references must confirm)

• Full time employee (salary – based on 40+ hours/week) 

• Minimum 2 years undergraduate course work completed – optional; 4-year degree in related field

• Maintained 24+/year training credits (workday, Sunbreak institute, & other approved trainings) – trainings completed are relevant, necessary, and informative of the behavioral professional role and duties 

• Minimum 600 shadow shift hours with a lead Behavior Professional OR demonstration of related work from previous place of employment 

• The ability to pass 3 simulation exercises with 90% or higher evaluation

• Demonstrate ability to manage, coach, and inspire DSP’s – as well as maintain a professional relationship with DSP and family

• Demonstrate ability to evaluate interns and DSP’s in a professional and compassionate deliver – while maintaining integrity and ethics

• 2 Recommendation letters from a Sunbreak Behavior Professional, outside Behavior Professional, or another equivalent professional/professor. 

• Provide evidence of an authored Functional Behavioral Assessment, Temporary Emergency Safety Plan, & Positive Behavior Support Plan – proficiency in these areas are required to become a Behavior Professional, therefore demonstrating skills that are working towards proficiency is expected.
